UCAS 2021 Context Statement

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Brentwood Ursuline Convent High School was closed to Year 12 students from Friday 20th March 2020 with teaching moving to distance learning via Microsoft Teams. Using this platform, Year 12 teachers set students weekly work via assignments and shared resources for students to read and complete, such as PowerPoint presentations, textbook material and web links.

Year 12 students who were not shielding or unwell were able to return to school for blended learning from Monday 22nd June 2020 and teachers delivered face to face lessons in classrooms until Friday 10th July 2020. The students were allocated two 90-minute sessions for each subject each week and teachers continued to use Microsoft Teams to either broadcast their lessons to students who remained at home or to share resources and tasks.

From Monday 9th September 2020, Year 13 students have resumed face to face lessons with teachers following their normal timetable. If students have been forced to isolate, work has been set for them via Microsoft Teams or email. Teachers have been providing in class support and assessment to all Year 13 students during this time but no formal mock examinations have taken place. Mock examinations with invigilation are scheduled to occur in the Spring term for these students.
